GUYS  ●  THINGS TO THINK ABOUT

If you haven't had sex yet

What you don’t know can hurt you. Read about both the physical and emotional risks before you decide to have sex and take a moment to think about abstinence; it’s not as crazy as it sounds..

If you are already sexually active

Make an appointment to get tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and learn about the physical and emotional risks of having sex. Take a break to think about how sex is impacting your life.

If you find out your wife/girlfriend is pregnant

The world has just changed for you, your wife/girlfriend, and your baby. Read about the decisions you face and make an appointment to talk to a male peer counselor about your options.

If you have taken on the challenge of being a dad

Either you’re already there and need a little friendly help, or you’re going to be a father soon. Read about some of the ways you can be a better dad and enjoy your highest calling. We have trained peer counselors who are also dads and are available to talk.

PHYSICAL RISKS

This is serious!

•  Every 2 seconds someone gets a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD).1,2

•  More than 65 million people in the U.S. are living with an incurable STD and, every year, 15 million more get infected.1,2

•  Some can be cured, while others cannot. If you get the incurable type, you’ll have it for the rest of your life.

•  What makes it tricky is that some symptoms can’t be seen, or come and go so you can’t tell when your partner has an STD.

EMOTIONAL RISKS

Emotions are not something guys usually talk about so think of it as your heart or soul. When you have sex, you open your heart and soul as well as your body to the person you have sex with.  You will forever be connected to that person.  If it is your wife, then it can strengthen your bond.  But if not, you end up connected to someone you won’t be with long term.

It is much easier to understand health risks, but emotional risks are just as real and will impact men as well as women.  Movies and music will tell you that it is a dumb to wait until marriage before having sex, but they don’t have to live with the relationships that break-up over complications that sex brings to non-marriage relationships.
